Junior Infant Class of 2022

We welcome Cillian, Aimée, Jack, Amy, Isobel, Helena and James to Scoil Áine Naofa. They have settled into school life so well already and we hope they continue to make great progress. We will do our best to ensure they enjoy their formative school years.

Girls 7-aside Football Blitz

A great day out for the girls in 4th, 5th and 6th class who took part in the Girls’ 7aside football blitz held in Craughwell on the 7th of October. They played brilliantly on the day showing excellent skill, determination and taking some fantastic scores. This was a great achievement as it was the school’s first  time having a girls’ team..

Cumann na mBunscol hurling.

Well done to our boys from 4th, 5th and 6th class who took part in the Cumann na mBunscoil hurling blitz held in Clarinbridge on the 29th of September. The boys had a super performance beating Clarinbridge, Tierneevan, Kiltiernan and Kiltartin in the group final. The team now advance on to the Cuman na mBunscol final on October 21st.

Garda 7’s football blitz

There was a super display of perseverance and skill from all the children who took part in the garda 7a-side Football Blitz held in Gort on Thursday 13th of October. The boys and girls played four teams on the day, reaching the final against a strong Ballindereen side. They displayed excellent skill and attitude throughout and won by a goal.  We are very proud of all our Lough Cutra pupils.

National Schools Heritage visit.

The school was very fortunate to hold a day for 3rd-6th class studying our national heritage in the context of buildings from the past.The workshop entailed a lengthy study  around the old and current school building and we compared this to modern architecture and building styles. The day also included map making, building a heritage' walk and talk', drawing a large local map with chalk on the school playground and exploring and creating strong cornerstones with lego, recreating old style buildings.

Christmas Jumpers 2022

The children wore their Christmas jumpers today as part of their non uniform pitch development fundraiser! There was great colour throughout the school! Please pick best one!!

Credit Union Quiz

A big well done to our Junior and Senior Quiz Teams who participated in the Gort Credit Union Quiz on Friday 27th 2023. We were very proud of their performance.

Learning Through Art

Scoil Áine Naofa were delighted to hold their Bake Sale on Wednesday 15th February 2023! The standard of baking was incredible and the children had a great day! The school raised an amazing €960! Scoil Áine Naofa would like to sincerely thank all pupils, staff, parents and the wider school community for their support. 

Spikeball Tournament

Well done to our senior class who participated in the annual Spikeball tournament in UL last week. We were very proud of their performance on the day.

St Brigid's day Procession

Our school was very fortunate to be part of the St Brigid's day Procession in Gort. Pupils created their own patchwork, which was sown together to create a St Brigid's Cloak and each child had an opportunity to wear the cloak throughout the procession. 

Confirmation 2023

Congratulations to our 5th and 6th class who made their Confirmation with Lurga NS last Thursday, and to their teacher Ms Diviney. See a sample of some of their wonderful Art on display in Shanaglish Church last Thursday.

Gort Credit Union Art Competition 

Scoil Aine Naofa was delighted to have two successful entries in the Gort Credit Union Art Competition. Well done to our two budding artists who came 1st and 2nd in their respective Competitions. 

Seachtain na Gaeilge and Lá Glas

We had great fun celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge and Lá Glas last week! During our school assembly, lots of our pupils displayed their many talents by playing instruments in front of the school,  performing Irish Dancing and singing songs as Gaeilge! Have a look!

Easter Hunt

Cumann na mBunscoil

Well done to the Girl's Football team who participated in their first Cumann na mBunscoil match yesterday. They played with great determination and skill. Well done to their coach Ms Diviney. 

Lego, Construction in Art

First and Second class are busy constructing lots of different pieces out of Lego as part of construction in Art. 

Basketball Blitz

A massive congratulations and well done to our basketball teams who participated in the St. Colman's Primary School Basketball Blitz today. We were very excited to win the final of the competition and to top off the victory, one of our 6th class players received the MVP award! Huge congratulations to all involved.

Budding Gardeners

We have been very busy planting and sowing flowers here in Lough Cútra. The school is looking very homely and colourful thanks to all our budding gardeners!!

First Communion Preparations 

We have been busy preparing for our First Communion with some fabulous Art on display in our corridors. We have also been learning about the Earth, rainbow fish, features of Summer and Egyptians!

1st & 2nd Class Fun in the Sun

We took great advantage of the good weather bringing as much learning as we could outdoors! Have a look at the great fun 1st and 2nd class had today! 

Thank you to Damien Hanrahan who finishes up his so cer coaching. The children really enjoyed this every week. 

1st & 2nd Class Blitz

 We were delighted to attend the Peterswell NS blitz today with our 1st and 2nd class and what a display of hurling and camogie! Both teams showcased their full range of skills and a great day was had by all. We are really looking forward to our own Lough Cútra NS blitz next week!!

Wellbeing Week: Whacky Wednesday:

As part of our wellbeing week, we invited the students of Lough Cútra NS to get their creative juices flowing with Whacky Wednesday!  In an effort to promote inclusivity and positivity, the children dressed up in the most creative and diverse range of outfits  and we showcased them to the school. See what you think of our Whacky Wednesday Catwalk!!

Drumming workshop:

 For Make Noise Monday, we held a drumming workshop where all the students participated in self expression and rhythm through music. It was great fun!!

Creative outdoor learning:

The slideslow shows a range of activities the children have been up to as part of our outdoor learning! 3rd and 4th class created schoolyard games and got to try them out on each other! 5th and 6th class participated in outdoor maths trails, and scroll below or see our archives to see the younger classes in action! We have also being making great use of our new P.E equipment while the weather is fine!

Graduating 6th class:

We would like to extend our very best wishes to our 6th class pupils as they finished their last day in Lough Cútra NS. We would like to wish them well in the next phase of their academic journey. We will miss them!!
