Our New Junior Infants:
A massive welcome to our new Junior Infants! We hope their time in Lough Cútra NS will be filled with great memories! We are delighted to see how well they have all settled into school!

We were lucky to get a fabulous picture of our whole school this week thanks to a visit from County Photos! What a great photo to have on display in our halls!




A trip to Baboró:
4th class had a great trip to see a production of 'Grace' as part of the Baboró International Arts Festival for children. Infants and 5th and 6th class also look forward to experiencing their own workshops including 'Kish Kush' and 'The Pale Baron'. Something different for the calendar!!



Jersey Day for GOAL!
Well done to all our classes for participating in our jersey day for the charity GOAL last Friday. This worthwhile charity raises much needed humanitarian funds to help some of the world’s most vulnerable communities move from extreme crisis to safer areas, often providing much needed food, water and shelter.
The school raised 260 euro. Thank you for your support .




Mini 7s Final!
A massive well done to our boys Hurling team who won their division of the INTO Mini 7s! They now qualify for the Mini 7s Final on October 9th! Special thanks to Adrian Diviney, Ms Gill, Martina and all who supported them on this fantastic achievement!




Cross Country Races:
Well done to all who participated in the Galway Cross Country Races last week. We were so proud of all our participation in what was a very tough course in Renmore! Congratulations to Charlie Diviney, Saoirse Gallagher, Emily Brady, Aiveen Diviney and Daragh Diviney who all qualified for the final, placing in the top 30. To make it when more excusing our 3rd and 4th class came 2nd place as a combined effort. Great success all round for Lough Cútra NS!!




A visit to the Pumpkin Patch!
Children from our ASD class were very lucky to enjoy a visit to the local Pumpkin Patch yesterday. They were very excited about their trip and got to bring home their own pumpkin to mark the occasion! Thank you to Ms Diviney and SNAs Ailish and Catherine for this wonderful experience.

Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal:
Thank you to all families who brought in a Christmas Shoebox for the Team Hope Annual Christmas Shoebox appeal. A special and well deserved gift for children who live in extreme poverty.




Cycle Right training course
5th and 6th class are delighted to be participating in the cycling safely programme over the next 3 weeks. The 'CYCLE RIGHT' course is an important cycling training course that provides practical cycle safety and skills training to promote competent and confident cyclists, including signalling, helmet safety and key aspects of road safety. Thank you to Galway Co Co and An Taisce who fund part of the course.

Science week 2024:
3rd-6th class were very busy last week investigating the role of a scientist! See some great photos below of the activities in our classes!
-Design and make a boat from plasticine that can float and carry passengers (counters)
-Test the tearing strength of different types of paper
-Extract DNA from a banana
-Design and make a catapult

Table Quiz nights:
So proud of our junior and senior quiz teams who participated in both the Kilchreest NS table quiz on Thursday 23rd January and the Gort Credit Union Table Quiz last Friday night. Both teams performed exceptionally well on each occasion.
We were delighted to come home with 2nd place in the Junior Credit Union Table Quiz for the second year in a row . Well done again to the pupils involved




SPIKEBALL Competitions!!
Well done to our 3 Spikeball teams who travelled to UL today to participate in the first round of the competitions. They had a great day out and represented the school proudly. Well done to our girls team who reached the final against Brierhill NS




St Brigid's Crosses:
Children in 4th class were busy celebrating St Brigid's Day by making crosses from locally sourced reeds. It was great to see their ability to work as a team! Well done


Soccer Competitions:
Well done to our school girl's soccer team who participated in the FAI 5 a side soccer tournament today. They had a great day out for themselves and really enjoyed the event. Thanks to Barry Mc Carry for training the teams.
Best of luck to our boy's team who compete tomorrow in Salthill




🌳🦔Adventure to Coole Park: 🌲🌳
Infants and our ASD class made the most of the good weather with a nature walk to Coole Park today. They had great fun participating in a scavenger hunt and looking for the signs of Spring and learning about forest animals. Lots of outdoor learning in the fresh air!!




🥞Pancake Tuesday in Lough Cútra NS!🥞
There was plenty of energy (probably from all the sugar!) in the school today as our resident pancake chef Mrs Kelly made pancakes for the whole school with the trusted help of our senior classes 👨🍳👩🍳. Our spread included lemon curd, maple syrup, marshmallows, banana, lemon and butter of course! Well done to Mrs Kelly and all involved. The school never smelled so nice!!!




Soccer Competitions (Boys):
Our school boy's soccer team participated in the FAI 5 a side soccer tournament in Salthill. The may not have reached the heights that the girls did the day before but we are still very proud of the effort and commitment they displayed throughout the event.




Garda Camogie Tournament:
Well done to our camogie team who participated in the first Garda Camogie Tournament in Ballindereen GAA on Thursday 20th March. They had a great day out!




5th and 6th class projects:
5th and 6th class pupils finished some fabulous project work this week making models and dioramas to represent their research about Ireland during the Medieval Times.
